Whilst caring for my wife in the later stages of Dementia. We went to Denmark to meet up with old friends and family. As we were leaving Thorsbo all the family gathered to have photographs taken and say farewell …

We said goodbye but was it good?
So often by the byre we’ve bid goodbye.
Then, too, the black sheep baad.
To now, a bidding, “Come back soon”.
Today, berate “You won’t come back again!”

How often do we say goodbye?
Casual. A code for “See you soon”.
But now it really means goodbye for you.
Can something that’s so sad still be so good?
The tears I shed are mine or are they yours?
I know the baas are gone for ever now.
Know you?
