Tender Shoots

My wife and I lived in the one home for 43 years. The house is full of lovely memories. Every now and again I come across something I hadn’t realised was there.

I found a little bag today
Hung neatly on a hook
Full of children’s garden tools
I took a second look.
A trowel a fork, a dibber too
A simple gardening book.

Memories came flooding back
Grandchildren in our life
Your seeds that grew to fill their time
Death severs like a knife
I’ll keep those shoots alive my love
My precious darling wife.
