Nothing really prepares us for what life has in store. Like the world over I sometimes get hit by the enormity of life’s experiences. I’m fortunate I have always been a glass half full person. Just the other day a good friend Keren pointed out that the joy of a half full glass is that there’s room for even more!
I sometimes wish I never loved before,
Yearn for a life devoid of love and care,
A painless life that didn’t leave me sore.
No worry, fear, no pain nor deep despair.
The trouble loving, is that one is caught.
Ensnared by love that creeps and lies in wait.
The joy one feels at first reveals naught
Of all the pain that also, is one’s fate.
But wait, all coins comprise both tail and head.
No matter what their worth, without the two,
Their value’s nil, they’ll buy not even bread.
And so too joy and pain cement love true.
So fill my life with currency like this,
And I’m content and reckon naught amiss.
